Picos (Portuguese for the "peaks", in Cape Verdean Creole: Pikus) is a city and the capital of São Salvador do Mundo municipality, in central part of the central part of Santiago, Cape Verde. The city is the 13th largest city in Cape Verde. Picos is linked with a major highway linking Assomada and the capital city of Praia. It is located about 70 km south of Tarrafal, SW of Pedra Badejo, W of Calheta de São Miguel and 55 km WNW of Praia. The national park of Pico da Antónia which is Picos' fame is bounded to the west along its forests and its slopey valley. More mountains dominate the northeast, and the central part is farmlands.

The population has been steadily and into today. The GDP for the city is low and a part of the population live in poverty, much of the population moved to other cities or elsewhere including the northern part of the world.
